چکیده

make up less than 2% of all intracranial space-occupying lesions (1). They are most commonly located in the cerebellopontine angle cistern, which accounts for approximately 40-50% of all intracranial epidermoid cysts, and this is followed by the parasellar region. Epidermoid cysts involving the cavernous sinus are very rare and they can be divided into 3 categories according to their location; extracavernous, interdural and true intracavernous (2). Herein we present the CT and MR imaging features, including the precontrast CT, fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR), diffusion-weighted (DW) and constructive interference in steady state (CISS) images, of an unusual case of a true, pathologically proven intracavernous epidermoid cyst.

Normal cranial nerves in the cavernous sinuses: contrast-enhanced three-dimensional constructive interference in the steady state MR imaging.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Three-dimensional (3D) constructive interference in steady state (CISS) MR imaging is useful for demonstrating cranial nerves (CNs) in the cistern. The purpose of this study was to evaluate normal CNs III, IV, V1, V2, and VI in the cavernous sinuses by using contrast-enhanced, three-dimensional (3D), Fourier transformation CISS MR imaging. METHODS In 76 normal cavernous...

Trigeminal ganglion and its divisions: detailed anatomic MR imaging with contrast-enhanced 3D constructive interference in the steady state sequences.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Visualization of the trigeminal system is important for imaging diagnosis but technically challenging. We assessed how well the trigeminal ganglion, its rootlets, and its branches (V1, V2, and V3) are depicted on three high-resolution pulse sequences. METHODS Twenty-two patients (44 sides) underwent nonenhanced 3D constructive interference in the steady state (CISS) MR ...

MR of epidermoids with a variety of pulse sequences.

PURPOSE To assess the usefulness of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and constructive interference in steady state (CISS) sequences in depicting epidermoid tumors. METHODS Six patients with surgically confirmed epidermoid tumors in the subarachnoid space were examined with T1-weighted MR imaging with a spin-echo sequence, and with T2- and proton density-weighted imaging with a fast...

Increased conspicuity of intraventricular lesions revealed by three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state sequences.

We describe our preliminary experience with the three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state (3D-CISS) sequence for the evaluation of intraventricular lesions. Cyst walls, extent and margins of tumors, and intratumoral cystic structures were clearly depicted on 3D-CISS images. The 3D-CISS sequence can offer additional information to conventional MR studies to define intraventricu...

Improved detection of intraventricular cysticercal cysts with the use of three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state MR sequences.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Before the advent of MR imaging, intraventricular cysts were difficult to diagnose noninvasively. Among the invasive procedures used were contrast ventriculography and CT ventriculography. MR imaging, with its multiplanar imaging capabilities, excellent depiction of tissue contrast, and versatile parameters, is an important tool in the assessment of intraventricular cysti...
